We are growing and need more help! Looking to add 2 more amazing humans to our super friendly staff!

We love this city, this neighborhood, and most importantly, great coffee and atmosphere. We work hard. We work fast. We are looking to add two experienced, rockstar baristas to our team. This position will require barista duties, heavy food prep, constant movement, stocking, and cashier/money handling responsibilities. Our days are full – we balance great customer service, preparing made-to-order breakfast and lunch sandwiches, making creamy lattes, cooking bacon, managing varying levels of food prep, and otherwise providing a friendly and cozy place to work, visit or be. If you think you can do this calmly, all while staying engaged with your customers, please read on.

Ready to hire and start in the next week or two.

You should be available at least 4 days per week, and be able to commit to a set schedule. Preference will be given to applicants with experience AND great attitudes. *Schedules are flexible but availability on EITHER Saturday or Sunday is a must.* This role will be up to 30 hours per week, with opportunity for extra hours with shift / vacation coverage, etc.

$14-15 per hour, depending on experience and excellence

* Food industry / cafe barista experience including balancing and prioritizing multiple to do lists, a constant stream of customers, and food prep and assembly.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, this includes speaking and listening, with co-workers, customers, and vendors
* Great Attitude – ability to maintain high energy, always friendly, positive outlook, engaging personality, sense of humor and willingness to grow, and an uncanny ability to maintain your cool.
* Must be a master juggler.
* You should also be very comfortable with change and juggling tasks. We are regularly in the throes of 5 projects. You must be able to juggle multiple activities, rather than needing to start and end one thing at a time. The cafe environment demands your attention and thought in multiple areas at once.
* Prompt and reliable transportation
* Current Multnomah County Food Handler Card.
* Current OLCC Card, or ability to obtain one.
* Strong work ethic
*A team player attitude, willing to look for and jump in where needed

*Accurate cash handling ability and the ability to balance a till
* Ability to lift 25 pounds over your head and to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
*Ability to stand while on shift
*High School Diploma or GED.

We love this city, this neighborhood, and most importantly, great coffee and atmosphere. We work hard. We work fast. We love to laugh and hear new stories, or old stories – whatever our customers want to tell us! We are open 7 days a week, 6am — 3pm, including most holidays.

Our days are full – we balance great customer service, preparing customer sandwich orders, making creamy lattes, cooking bacon, managing varying levels of food prep, baking chocolate chip cookies, and otherwise providing a friendly and cozy place to work, visit or be. If you think you can do all this calmly, and while staying engaged with your customers and your coworkers, please read on.

We are looking for a part time barista and part time personal assistant. You should have open availability so that you can closely mirror the needs of the owner in the personal assistant role. Each role will have their own set hours and schedule. We would have set days for the barista role and set days for the personal assistant role. Between the two roles, hours can get up into full time if you desire.

You are a fully trained barista in the hustle and craftsmanship of third wave coffee but want to learn or use a different set of skills to develop your career. You are looking to continue to do what you love – slingin’ coffee, chatting up customers, but also want to develop your skills and move to the next level of your career. You will work directly with the owner as you learn to develop and hone your organization and management skills.

30-35 hours per week, or more when covering shifts. 15-20/hours per week as barista, including tips and about 10-15 hours per week in the personal assistant role. $14.50-15.50 per hour, depending on experience and excellence

You will bring all of the best parts of you: Great Communication Great attitude and hustle Ability to piece things together and figure it out Jill or jack of all trades High standards Ability to juggle and shift gears – physically and mentally Work in a high volume, busy setting but also comfortable sitting down and focusing, planning, organizing and looking at what needs to be done next. Always asking “what’s next?”

The Barista role requires a master juggler, of people and projects. You should be able to throw a person up in the air, run across the room and pop down a bagel, come back and laugh about their dog tricks while making a perfectly steamed microfoam latte. If this sounds exciting to you, and something that you can manage with the highest of quality standards, please apply.

We are not just looking for baristas. We are looking for people that want to be cared for and want to care. For people that know a lot, but always want to know more. For people that engage with the world around them by reaching out, and not waiting for the world to come to them.

The Personal Assistant role to the owner requires many of the same skills.
You will report to and work directly with the owner, so you aren’t intimidated by that. You are treated with respect for your knowledge and prowess for gathering new information.
You don’t need your hand held, but also are not afraid to ask questions when needed.
You think for your damn self but love to bounce ideas off of other people.
You are willing to do research, run errands, outline projects, pull the pieces together, and drink great coffee while you are doing that.
You have a knack for pulling idea balloons down from the air and being able to find and implement the next steps of a project.

If this sounds like the variety that you are looking for in your next career move, we would love to hear what you bring. Send us an email with your cover letter and resume. In your cover letter, describe your typical day off and why this is a good long-term fit in your career path.

We are looking for a Community Engagement Coordinator and Barista. You should have open availability so that you can organize, attend, participate and/or run events.

You are a fully trained barista in the hustle and craftsmanship of third wave coffee but want to learn or use a different set of skills to develop your career. You are looking to continue to do what you love – slingin’ coffee, chatting up customers, but also want to develop your skills and move to the next level of your career. You will bring all of the best parts of you: Great Communication
Great attitude and hustle
Ability to piece things together and figure it out
Jill or jack of all trades
High standards
Ability to juggle and shift gears – physically and mentally
Work in a high volume, busy setting but also comfortable sitting down and focusing, planning, organizing and looking at what needs to be done next.
Always asking “what’s next?”

The Community Engagement Coordinator role requires many of the same skills. We are looking for someone to head up our anti-cliché campaign. What does it mean to be a community centered coffee shop? We are this inherently due to our location in a community and because the people in the community come and visit us. They are our friends, neighbors, dog walking buddies, language practice buddies. But how do we engage outward and be a member of the community outside of our walls? How do we get out from behind the bar and impact this home we call Portland? How do we engage with our customers and friends during these events?

As the Community Engagement Coordinator, you will help us answer these questions by developing current ideas, coming up with new ones, putting the steps in place to implement them, and by participating in the events that we create, organize and hold. You have a keen interest and stake hold in the North Portland community but also the larger Portland Metro community.

You will work with our social media person to optimize engagement on our current platforms. You will also work with and report directly to the owner in the Community Engagement role.

If this sounds like the variety that you are looking for in your next career move, we would love to hear what you bring. Send us an email with your cover letter and resume. In your cover letter, describe your typical day off and why this is a good long-term fit in your career path.

*Able to frequently lift or move 50 pounds
*Standing while on shift

In your cover letter, please describe why you love baking and tell us a little about yourself, including what your typical day looks like when you leave the bakery and how your closet is organized.

Though we’d love to respond to every applicant, we will be unable to contact everyone who submits a resume.
